Breaking News: Food Pantry Phone Scam Targeting Tewksbury Residents

Jun 17, 2015 03:14PM ● By Bill Gilman
Tewksbury residents are being targeted with a phone scam this week focusing on the Tewksbury Community Food Pantry.
Todd Johnson, a member of the Community Food Pantry Board of Directors and the chairman of the Board of Selectmen, several residents have told him they received solicitations from a phone bank on Wednesday. According to Johnson, the callers told the residents they were calling on behalf of the food pantry and were requesting donations in the form of cash or checks.
Johnson said these calls are a scam. He said the food pantry is not conducting a telephone fundraising campaign and that anyone receiving these calls should report them to the Tewksbury Police Department.
Johnson said anyone wishing to help the Tewksbury Community Food Pantry can do so by going to the TCFP web site  at and following the instructions for making financial or food donations.
