Liggiero Named ECAC Division III New England Softball All-Star

BROOKLINE, Mass. – Junior centerfielder Sheri Liggiero (Tewksbury, Mass.) was named to the ECAC Division III New England Softball All-Star Second Team, announced late Wednesday evening, becoming the first player in Newbury softball history to earn the recognition.

It is the first time in her three-year collegiate career, Liggiero earned ECAC regional honors following a career year as well as a three-time New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) First Team selection and two time NFCA All-Region Third Team selection. Over 35 games, the Tewksbury native batted .438 (42-96) with six doubles, four triples and 14 RBI while posting a 1.078 OPS (.583 SLG%, .495 OBP). In addition she led the NECC with a staggering .574 batting average and .607 On-Base Percentage against conference foes.

Midway through the season in a commanding 13-2 victory over Wheelock College, Liggiero became the second player in program history to reach the 100-hit milestone. She currently is the program's all-time career leader with 131 base-hits while became the only player in program history to score 100-plus runs with 111 runs scored in her three year career.  Additionally, she is two stolen bases shy of surpassing the program record for stolen bases, successfully stealing nine-of-nine to in 2015.
