Shawsheen Tech Mourns Loss Of Student, School Open This Evening For Counseling And Support

Shawsheen Tech will be open today from 3 to 6 p.m. for students, parents and other members of the school community dealing with the tragic death of a student over the weekend.

Nicholas Bomboy, 17, of Billerica died on Saturday from injuries he sustained when he was shot with a BB gun on June 26 at his home on Andover Road.

Shawsheen Tech officials posted the following message on the school web site:

"We are deeply saddened to hear of the loss of our student Nicholas Bomboy. Nicholas was a well-known and respected student at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School. We offer our sincere condolences to Nicholas’ family throughout this difficult time. The school guidance office will be open Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. to provide support and resources to families, students, and staff in need during this tragic time."

Bomboy's death is under investigation by the office of Middlesex County DA Marian Ryan, State Police and Billerica Police.

According to Ryan, the incident took place just before noon on June 26. Several individuals were on scene but Bomboy was the only one injured. Investigators recovered several "soft air guns" and one high-powered BB gun at the scene
