Four young ladies from Tewksbury rolled into Milford, MA Saturday morning
with redemption on their minds and brought along nine new teammates with
them to help them get what they were seeking.  The Redmen made an early
exit in the 2014 Summer Slam in 2014 and that was something #29 Ally
"Gator" Costello, #10 Paige "Dirt Dawg" Ouellette, #1 Kayla "K" Mirisola
and #25 Shea "Frosty" Frost were determined to correct in 2015.

Saturday morning the Redmen squared off with the Newton Panthers – Blue and
came out with blazing hot bats including a bases clearing triple by
#29 Costello and a three run home run by #9 Sara Moeller.  #1 Kayla
Mirisola and #14 Samantha Ryan shut the Panthers down early and the Redmen
tamed the Panthers 17-2 in 4 innings.

Game two the Redmen took the field against a familiar opponent the Nipmuc
Warriors.  Tewksbury jumped out to an early lead but as the skies turned
gray the 5-1 Tewksbury lead evaporated and the Warriors tied the game 5-5
and that is the way it would end as the thunder and lightning forced the
game to end in a tie.

The skies cleared and Game three was the battle of the “Burys” Tewksbury
vs. Shrewsbury Golden Eagles.  Again the Redmen jumped out to an early lead
but this time they would not look back.  A solid outing by Moeller and more
timely hitting #10 Paige Ouellette, #11 Kendall Von Khale and #17 Sarah
Downing put Tewksbury out in front for good as Ryan took the ball and
closed out the Golden Eagles 9-5.

Saturdays work earned the Redmen the #3 seed for Sunday knockout play.
Game #4 brought the Framingham Fliers (6) to Memorial Field to take on the
Redmen.  Costello took the ball and command of the game throwing 4 shutout
innings and striking out ten Framingham batters before handing the ball
over to Mirisola. The Redmen bats stayed hot top to bottom and the Redmen
grounded the Fliers 12-2 in 4 innings.

Game #5 the semi-final and a rematch between Tewksbury and Nipmuc.  As
temperatures approached 95 degrees  Moeller came out and brought more heat
dominating Warrior batters while her catcher #25 Shea Frost kept everything
nice and cool behind the dish throwing out one of the few Warrior base
runners of the game.  The Redmen scratched and clawed out three runs  but
that combined with Moeller and stellar defensive plays by Von Khale,
Ouellette, Ryan and #7 Colleen Craill would be enough for a trip to the
finals.  3-0 Redmen victory.

Game #6 Milford Summer Slam Championship game was played at Milford H.S.
The Redmen squared off with the Dartmouth Dynamites and Sam Ryan got the
nod to Start for the Redmen. Dartmouth jumped out to an early 4-0 lead.
Kayla Mirisola came on and held the Dynamite to one run in 2 1/3 innings of
relief.  Frost scored in the third inning for Tewksbury.  Costello took the
ball in the fourth inning and allowed one more Dyanamite run before
slamming the door on the Dartmouth batters.  The Redmen bats had gone
silent though and Dartmouth defeated Tewksbury 6-1 for the 2015 Milfors
Girls Softball Summer Slam Championship.

As always these young ladies represented the town of Tewksbury and
Tewksbury Girls Softball with class, sportsmanship and fierce competitive
play.  Congratulations Redmen!
