Final Game Of Dominican Invitational Tonight At Tewksbury's Poulin Field

The first, but hopefully not last, Dominican Invitational goodwill baseball tour comes to a close tonight in Tewksbury.
The visiting team of Little League All-Stars from the Dominican Republic will take on the Tewksbury Youth Baseball All-Stars at Poulin Field on East Street, starting at 7 p.m.
It will be the fifth game for the Dominicans during their week-long visit to the Merrimack Valley. They took on Tewksbury on Monday, followed by two games against Billerica. Sandwiched in between was a game against Haverhill, played in Tewksbury.
During their stay, the visitors have also taken in a Lowell Spinners game, gone on a Duck Boat Tour and visited the hallowed grounds of Fenway Park.
The tour was organized by Larry Bairstow of Tewksbury. Bairstow is the founder of the Forkball Foundation, which is dedicated to collecting and distributing baseball equipment to the youth in the Dominican Republic. For years, the group has been devoting their time and energy to collecting and distributing used and surplus baseball equipment to teams down in Puerto Plata – a notoriously poor area for children who often struggle to find even the simplest equipment.
