Ray Noel, age 60, of Billerica, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, died peacefully on August 4, 2015 , at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston following a courageous battle with cancer.
Ray was born in Everett, MA on February 10, 1955; he was the cherished son of Dorothy E. (Stowe) Noel and the late Larry Noel of Wilmington. Ray was raised and educated in Wilmington and a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1974.
At the time of his death, Ray was employed as a Water Department Foreman for the town of Wilmington. Ray always had a pleasant disposition and a great work ethic; he made countless friends with his co-workers throughout the years.
Ray married his “sweetheart and best friend” Gail M. Rogowicz on August 26, 1995; celebrating nearly twenty years together. Ray and Gail always had a great time together, they loved to travel especially to Las Vegas and their trips to Foxwoods; Ray loved to gamble.
In his spare time, Ray enjoyed going fishing, he was an avid hunter, and never missed a chance to play cards with family and friends. Back in the day he would frequent Wilmington Town Park playing softball with the gang.
Ray’s love and devotion to his family was always unconditional; you could count on him anytime day or night, whatever needed to be done Ray was always right there. Ray was a devoted and loving husband, son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, and a true friend to many; he was their “Rock”.
Ray will be fondly remembered as a kind, caring, generous, forgiving, hardworking, and fiercely loyal. He had a great sense of humor and was always upbeat even in the worst of times. Ray had a huge heart and he cherished every moment he spent with his family and friends; he was “one of a kind” who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ray was the beloved husband of Gail M. (Rogowicz) Noel of Billerica, cherished son of Dorothy and the late Larry Noel of Wilmington, devoted brother of Bob Noel of Tewksbury and the late Karen Noel, loving uncle of Bonnie and Rich Mounsey of Wilmington, Nicholas Noel of Tewksbury, Kristina and Daniel Murphy of East Boston, and great-nephew Benjamin Mounsey. Dear son-in-law of James and the late Esther Rogowicz of Winthrop, brother-in-law of James Rogowicz, Jr. of Billerica, and Christine and Luigi Pizzannella of Winthrop. Ray is also survived by many cousins and dear friends who he considered family.
Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Friday, August 7th from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Ray’s Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 8th at 10:00 a.m. in the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 87 Church St. (Rte. 62), Wilmington. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Donations in Ray’s memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Attn: Esophageal Cancer Research, P. O.
