Obituary: Forest “Blackie” Winslow, 80

Forest “Blackie” Winslow, 80, of Tewksbury MA passed away on August 2 in Boston surrounded by his loving family.
Forest was born in Saugus MA on March 16, 1935. He worked in the construction field for Manter Construction Company of Danvers MA for 55 years (1958 to 2013) after his honorable discharge from the Army. He is a past Commodore (1985) and Lifetime Member of the Volunteer Yacht Club in Lynn. He loved spending time with friends and family at the club and all opportunities to be on the water. His most memorable roll of captain, however, will be as an amazing family man. His love of family and ability to see the best in every person will remain unsurpassed.
Forest is predeceased by his wife, Jean (Murphy). He is survived by his children Forest Winslow Jr of Saugus MA, Laura Hogan of Peabody MA, Michelle Nilsson of Colorado Springs, CO and Brian Nilsson of Saugus MA. He also leaves his grandchildren (whom his world revolved around), Forest “BJ” III, Zackery, Kayleigh Ann, Cameron, Jason, Shawn, Vincent and Tyler as well as his brothers and sister in laws, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Lynnfield on August 12 at 10am, followed by a gathering at the Volunteer Yacht Club in Lynn MA to celebrate his memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105
