A 22-year old Lowell man, who allegedly preyed on people posting personal ads, is facing multiple felony charges after being taken into custody Monday by Tewksbury Police Detectives, according to Chief Timothy Sheehan.

Christian Cepeda-Ortiz, 5 Warwick St, Apt.3, was arraigned Tuesday in Lowell District Court, charged with three counts of armed robbery, three counts of armed assault with the intent to rob, aggravated rape, kidnapping and witness intimidation.

After a lengthy investigation into two separate robberies which occurred at the Motel 6 on July 1 and at the Holiday Inn on August 8, Tewksbury Detectives were able to identify, track down, and arrest Cepeda-Ortiz in Lowell.  There were two victims at the Holiday Inn.

During the course of their investigation, Detectives learned that Cepeda-Ortiz was targeting individuals who were posting in the adult section on the online publication, meeting with them, and robbing them at knife point.

Evidence recovered after arrest has led Detectives to believe there may be other victims out there who may not have reported an incident to police. The TPD is asking anyone who may have been a victim of Cepeda-Ortiz to call Tewksbury Detectives.

The Tewksbury Police Department urges any citizens who suspect criminal activity to call the Dispatch Center at 978-851-7373.  If you wish to remain anonymous please call the Tip Line at 978-851-0175 or send an email to
