One man is under arrest and another suspect is being sought in connection with the assault and robbery of man, Tuesday night.

The bizarre incident began just before 11 p.m., when Dispatch received a 911 call from a woman who said her son may have just been involved in a rollover crash near Gold's Gym, 540 Main St.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and police interviewed the driver of the crashed vehicle. Detectives learned that he was the victim of an attempted unarmed robbery by two male suspects just prior to the crash. According to the victim, he was lured to Tewksbury to sell marijuana and then beaten and choked unconscious by two males while he was operating his vehicle, causing the crash.

The victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to LGH Saints Campus for treatment. The two men fled the scene.

Detectives were able to identify two male suspects involved. On Wednesday, detectives arrested James Perry, 26, of 21 Secor Way in Tewksbury for Unarmed Assault with Intent to Rob and Strangulation. Mr. Perry was located in Chelmsford and placed under arrest for the above charges.

An arrest warrant has been issued from Lowell District Court for the second male suspect for Unarmed Assault with Intent to Rob and Assault & Battery.  The second individual involved in this crime has been identified as James Hembree, 26, of 749 North St. in Tewksbury.

Tewksbury Police continue to search for Hembree and ask that anyone with information about his whereabouts call the Tewksbury Police Department immediately. Perry was arraigned in Lowell District Court Thursday.
