Tewksbury Memorial High School Volleyball Team Takes ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

On Sept.10, the day before a key match-up with divisional rival Billerica, the TMHS Volleyball team took a moment after their practice to do some team bonding and help their community.

Coach Jim Ray came up with the idea to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and with 90 degree days to start the school year, it seemed like a perfect team community service activity. Coach Jim Ray joined his Varsity, JV, and Freshman teams in the challenge, and the TMHS Volleyball Boosters were able to make a generous donation to the Frates ALS Research and Support Fund to provide funding for targeted ALS research.

The team also plans to do the Hike for Hope, to help “Strike out Poverty one step at a time” on Oct. 4. The team will also raise funds for a cure for Cancer at their 2nd Annual Dig Pink for a Cure game at the TMHS gym on October 16th (5:30 Varsity, 4:00 JV/Freshman). They will be accepting donations at the Friday game. There is no charge to attend any of their games.

Come cheer them on and help them make a difference in their community! They are currently 2-0 (they won that game against Billerica).
