Rams, Redmen Roundup: Shawsheen Runs Past Minuteman, Redmen Fall To Lowell

Girls Cross Country

Shawsheen Tech 15, Minuteman 50

Led by Jackie Broderick, the Shawsheen Tech girls cross country team swept the first five spots to blank Minuteman. 

Xenia Rodriguez placed second for the Rams, followed by teammates Holly DeCourcey, Casey DeCosta and Ivana Wiskey.

Lowell 26, Tewksbury 29

The Tewksbury High girls cross country team showed outstanding depth but fell short short in their season-opening meet against Lowell High.

Lily Robinson led the way for Tewksbury, placing third in 18:42 over the 2.8 mile course. Lauren Polimeno placed fourth in 18:50, followed closely by teammate Devyn Veits in fifth in 18:56.

Sofia Calvo placed seventh for Tewksbury in 19:18, with Kirsten Dick placing 10th in 18:43.

Boys Cross Country

Shawsheen Tech 21, Minuteman 40

Jake Ferri to to victory, leading Shawsheen Tech to a team win over Minuteman. 

Andrew McCarthy places third overall for the Rams, followed by teammate Connor Larsen. RJ Page placed sixth, followed by Ryan Barry in seventh

Lowell 21, Tewksbury 38

Tewksbury's Mario Fuchu placed first but it wasn't enough for the Redmen, as they fell to Lowell High in the opening meet of the season for both teams.

Fuchu covered the 2.8 mile Tewksbury course in 15:17. Lowell took the next four places before Alec Hirtle took sixth in 15:45. 

Rory Foley placed eighth for the Redmen in 16:01


Shawsheen Tech 9, Essex Tech 0

Shawsheen Tech (1-3) earned its first victory of the season with a rout of Essex Tech at par 34 Reedy Meadow.

Matt Paolicelli and fellow senior Ryan Pigott fired matching 37s to lead the Rams.

North Andover 17.5, Tewksbury 2.5

The Tewksbury Redmen traveled over to North Andover Country Club and tangled with the undefeated North Andover Knights in an MVC I - MVC II matchup

 North Andover was able to show their strength and depth and defeat Tewksbury 17.5 - 2.5. Tewksbury's lone winner on the afternoon was Sophomore Ben McKay who won his match 2 Up while he and his partner, Senior Jonathan Verrill, combined to half the Best Ball match to earn the only 2.5 points for the Redmen.

Tewksbury's next match will be Monday at Trull Brook Golf Course against the visiting Indians from Billerica.
