Public Forum Will Kick Off Search For New Superintendent Of Schools

Sep 20, 2015 08:39PM ● By Bill Gilman
The Tewksbury School Committee, with the help of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees is starting the process of selecting a new Superintendent of Schools for Tewksbury and they are inviting the public to be a part of the process.
The School Committee recently announced a two-day public forum to elicit input from residents as to the qualities, skills and characteristics they would like to see in a new superintendent. The input gathered in these sessions will be used in the recruitment of candidates and the initial screening process.
The following is the text of a letter sent to parents and guardians by the School Committee. But it should be noted that ALL members of the community are invited to attend and participate in one or both days of the forum:

The Tewksbury School Committee is actively seeking your input concerning the search for a new Superintendent of School following the retirement of Dr. John O’Connor at the end of the 2015-2016 school year. The Committee wants to know what the skills and qualities that the new Superintendent should have and is hosting two forums for residents’ convenience.

On September 21 and 22, members of the community are invited to attend a Community Forum with the Search Consultant, Mike Gilbert, from the Massachusetts Association of School Committees. He will be available to listen to comments and questions concerning the new Superintendent. The forums will be at Tewksbury Memorial High School from 6:00pm-7:30pm in Room LG1 each night.
