Rams, Redmen Roundup: Shawsheen Soccer Blanks Mystic Valley, TMHS Volleyball Shocks Central Catholic

Boys soccer

Shawsheen 3, Mystic Valley 0

Zach Buckland took matters into his own hands with a second-half hat trick, lifting the Rams (7-1) over Mystic Valley.

Buckland scored in just about every way imaginable, including a head ball off a corner kick, a long blast and a clean breakaway.

Assists were recorded by Nick Sachetta, Jake Lage and Christian Lucchesi. 

Keeper Matt Irwin recorded his third shutout of the season.

Volleyball

Tewksbury 3, Central Catholic 2

Tewksbury High dropped the first two sets before storming back to knock off MVC rival Central Catholic.

Set scores were 18-25, 20-25, 25-16, 25-18, 15-13.

Molly Robertson led the Redmen (7-1) with  13 kills and 8 blocks. Nicole Petherbridge added 5 aces, 9 kills, 3 blocks and 12 digs. Nora Butler chipped in with 7 kills and 13 digs. Kendall Paolella contributed 4 kills and 5 blocks.

Golf

North Reading 147, Tewksbury 131

The Tewksbury Redmen traveled to Hillview Colf Course to take on Cape Ann foe, the North Reading Hornets in a Modified Stableford System non league match. North Reading defeated Tewksbury 147-131. Leading scorers for Tewksbury were Senior's Sam Canels and Tom McKenna who both led the team with 26 points each. Sophomore Ben McKay scored 22 points, followed by Senior Owen MacEacherns' 20 points and Sophomore's Bill Giasullo and Johnny Spinelli's 19 and 18 points respectively. The Hornets moved to 6-2 on the season while the Redmen move to 5-5 on the season. Tewksbury next plays Andover at Trull Brook Golf Course tomorrow.
