Tewksbury Police Announce Contests As Part Of Substance Use Prevention & Education Week

Tewksbury’s Substance Use Prevention & Education Week Contests are attached to this article as PDF attachments.  Please select the appropriate Grade K-4, 5-8, and/or 9-12 to enter.  Prizes will be awarded to the top three in each category.

Poster Contest For Grades K-4
“Healthy ME” Poster Contest As part of our goal to educate our entire community about making healthy choices, we would like to include even our youngest residents by asking them to show us what healthy means to them with our “Healthy ME” poster contest. We are asking that they paint, color or draw a picture that shows how they live a healthy lifestyle. The contest is open to all Tewksbury Public School students in grades K-4th. Must be hand drawn, colored or painted (no computer graphics). Picture must be on a regular piece of white computer paper. Please include your child’s name, grade, and school on the back side of their picture. Applications should be turned into the school’s front office no later than October 23rd (3PM). Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place for each grade from each school. Winners will be notified the week of November 9th. This event is sponsored by the Tewksbury Police Department and the Tewksbury Education Foundation. 

Essay Contest for Grades 5-8
Tewksbury’s Substance Use Prevention & Education Week Essay Contest Pressures are a normal part of life. Getting older brings a whole batch of new pressures. What really matters, though, is how well you keep it all in perspective.   We want to hear how you deal with these pressures and reward you for being AMAZING. Write about one or two pressures in your life. How do you deal with them in a positive way? How could other kids use your approach?  The essay should be 250‐ 500 words (typed or handwritten). The contest is open to all Tewksbury Public School students in grades 5 – 8. Please include your name, grade, and school. Applications should be turned into your school’s front office no later than October 23rd (3PM).   Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place for each grade from each school.   Winners will be notified the week of November 9th. Video Contest for Grades 9-12
Tewksbury’s Substance Use Prevention and Education Week PSA Contest Create a 90 second video clip to highlight the dangers of prescription drug use EASY as 1,2,3! 1. Use your best creative style to make a service announcement we can run on local television–live or animated 2. Submit your clip on a thumb drive along with your name and grade to the front office by 2PM on October 15th 3. Cash prize for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners! Winners will be notified the week of November 3rd. Sponsored by the Tewksbury Police Department, Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks and the Tewksbury Education Foundation.
