John Alan Parsons, 63
CLERMONT, FL - John Alan Parsons, age 63, a well known former resident of Tewksbury, died Thursday, October 22, at the Orlando Regional Medical Center, after discovery of cancer less than a week ago. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Germaine I. (Hardy) Parsons, with whom he had celebrated a 41st wedding anniversary this past June 15th.
He was born in Presque Isle, Maine, in September 1952, one of four children of the late Roy D. and Doris (Buzzell) Parsons, and was raised in Lowell. He lived in Tewksbury before moving to the Orlando area 20 years ago.
John began his career as a respiratory therapist at Choate Hospital, and later Lowell General Hospital. He worked briefly as a Barber at Don’s Barber Shop in Lowell before purchasing the Bradford Coffee Shop in the Tewksbury Hardware Building in Tewksbury. After a decade of success, he sold the Bradford, and converted the historic “Pike House” in Tewksbury to the Pike House Restaurant. Following the sale of his restaurant, he joined the DeWolf Real Estate company in Tewksbury, and went on to be elected president of the Greater Lowell Board of Realtors. After several successful years in real estate, John and Germaine “retired” to Florida. John launched his final career at Disneyworld in Orlando, and quickly rose to the position of Ground Transportation Manager for the theme park. He retired from Disney three years ago.
As a resident of Tewksbury, John enjoyed membership in the Tewksbury Lions Club.
Besides his beloved wife, he leaves a son, Kevin R. Parsons and his wife Colleen (Matthews) of Naples, FL; a daughter, Cheryl L. Degges and her husband Marc of Minneola, FL; five adored grandchildren, Alexa Faith Parsons, and Sean Kevin Parsons, Owen Alexander Degges, Luke David Degges, and Evan John Degges; a brother, Stephen Parsons, and his wife Karen (Longo) of Merrimack, NH; a brother-in-law, Robert L. Boutin of Billerica, who was husband of his late sister, Gloria J. Boutin; many nieces and nephews; and was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert G. Parsons.
Arrangements are pending.
