Rams, Redmen Roundup: TMHS Volleyball Captures League Championship

Tewksbury 3, Lowell 0
Tewksbury 3, Billerica 0
With straight set wins over Lowell and Billerica, the Tewksbury High girls volleyball team has clinched the Merrimack Valley Conference Division 2 championship.

Against Billerica, the Redmen (12-3, 7-0 MVCD2) won 25-18, 25-21 and 25-9.

Nora Butler led Tewksbury with 7 kills and 5 digs. Adrianna Favreau chipped in with 5 kills, 2 aces and 7 digs. Delaney Chisholm and Catherine Butler added 11 assists each.

Against Lowell, set scores were 25-17, 25-16 and 25-13.

Nicole Petherbridge had a monster game for Tewksbury with 15 kills, 6 digs and 2 blocks. Molly Robertson added 7 kills and 3 blocks. Kamir Zahari also played well in the win.

Shawsheen Tech 3, Whittier 2

Junior Kiley Barrett recorded seven straight service points in the fifth and deciding set to help carry Shawsheen Tech past Whittier

Set scores were  21-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-12, 15-13. Barrett's strong service game was just what the doctor ordered, who trailed 8-1 in the fifth set and 11-6 when Barrett took serve.

Lauren Beachey and Emily Kiehl had three kills each for the Rams (15-3).

Shawsheen Tech 3, NDA 1

 Senior Bryanna Ippolito recoded 13 service points to help lift Shawsheen over NDA in four sets. It was the Rams first win over the Lancers in school history.

Set scores were 25-22, 25-20, 11-25 and 25-16.

Katie Welch and Ashley Fahey had excellent matches for the Rams.

Boys Cross Country

Tewksbury 19, Methuen 42

Led by Mario Fuchu, Tewksbury (6-4) took four of the first five places to rout Methuen on thye Rangers home Methuen.

Here are the top TMHS runners over the 2.85 mile course.

1. Mario Fuchu 16:02; 3. Rory Foley 16:34; 4. Joey MacNeil 16:52; 5. Joey Forest 16:53; 6. Mike Flynn 17:02; 8. Keegan Flynn 17:11; 9. Sam Traynor 17:24; 10. Kyle Puelo 17:41.

Girls Soccer

Shawsheen 3, Innovation Charter 0

Balanced offense and solid goaltending carried Shawsheen Tech (8-6) over Innovation Charter.

Megan Lovino, Shannon Fitzgerald and Annmarie Riddle had the goals for the Rams.

Janina Kennedy and Emily Langone split time in net, combining for eight saves in the shutout.

Greater Lawrence 32, Shawsheen 27

Craig Rich ran for three touchdowns, but it wasn't enough for Shawsheen Tech in a loss to Greater Lawrence.

Quarterback Alex Tate connected with Andy Diranian for the Rams other score.

Shawsheen's defense was led by Sam Baker, who intercepted a pass late in the first half.
