Tewksbury Hero To Speak At Wednesday's Veterans Day Ceremony

U.S. Army veteran Derek Welch will be the guest speaker at Wednesday's Veterans Day Ceremony on the Town Common.

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m., weather permitting.

Welch is a former Army Ranger, who served five tours of duty in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. He enlisted immediately after graduating from Tewksbury Memorial High School and served through December 2013.

A lifelong Tewksbury resident, Welch's mother, Patricia works in the Tewksbury Public Schools.

Wednesday's festivities will also include a breakfast at 8 a.m. at Bayberry Assisted Living facility and a Flag Ceremony at 9 a.m. at Blair House. Both events are open to the public.
