Troy Carey's one-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter lifted Tewksbury to a hard-earned 19-14 win over Westford Academy, Friday night.

The Redmen (7-2) got off to a strong start when
Brett Morris connected with Adam Gajjaoui from 28 yards out to take a 7-0 lead. An 18-yard touchdown run by Tyler Ward made it 13-0 and it looked like the rout was on.

But the Grey Ghosts answered with two quick strikes, including a 5-yard touchdown run, to take a 14-13 lead into halftime.

The second half belonged to the Tewksbury defense, which clamped down on Westford and kept the game close until Carey's game-winning touchdown.

Tewksbury is off until Thanksgiving, when it takes on arch-rival Wilmington High.

10th-seeded Tewksbury saw an outstanding season come to an end with a loss to 11th-seeded Wakefield in the Sectional semifinals.
Wakefield jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a free kick in the 29th minute. But Tewksbury pressed the attack in an attempt to get the equalizer. The Redmen's best bid came on an blast by Nick McKeon, who clanged it off the post.
Tewksbury stayed within a goal until Wakefield netted an insurance tally late in the second half.
Tewksbury ends its season at 9-9-3.
Wakefield (9-9-4) advanced to the Sectional final, where it was defeated by No. 4 Swampscott (15-3-3), 2-0.
