Tewksbury Police arrested three more people over the weekend, as part of continuing efforts to combat heroin trafficking locally.
On Nov. 14, TPD officers arrested Harolyn Dejesus, 27, of 19 Grove St., Apt. #17, Methuen, Edwin Nieves-Flores, 35, of 19 Grove St., Apt. #17, Methuen for distribution of heroin and conspiracy to violate the drug laws. Nieves-Flores was charged with distribution as a subsequent offense.
Also arrested was Jason Hines, 42, of 14 Claire St., Tewksbury for possession with the intent to distribute heroin, resisting arrest and conspiracy to violate the drug laws.
According to TPD Chief Timothy Sheehan, detectives conducted a lengthy investigation into drug distribution in the Claire Street/ Patten Road area which led to the three arrests. Detectives were conducting surveillance when they observed a drug transaction on Claire Street. Hines was observed purchasing narcotics from Dejesus and Nieves-Flores from their motor vehicle.
Once the transaction occurred and detectives attempted to conduct a stop, Hines fled from police on foot, but was apprehended shortly thereafter. Ten grams of heroin was located.
Other detectives in the area, along with the Patrol Division conducted a motor vehicle stop of Nieves-Flores and Dejesus on Foster Road at Shawsheen Street. Officers found a two-year-old child inside the vehicle. Both adults were placed under arrest.
The Department of Children and Families were notified and the child was turned over to a family member.
All three suspects were arraigned Monday at Lowell District Court.
