Tewksbury Library To Hold 'Movie Month' This December

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Your favorite TV show in reruns? Need to escape the holiday madness? Watch this summer's Hollywood blockbusters at the Tewksbury Public Library this December!  

The below film screenings are free and include complimentary candy and bottled water: 

On Tuesday, December 1, 7pm, enjoy a screening of Inside Out, a PG-rated animated comedy adventure. After young Riley is uprooted from her Midwest life and moved to San Francisco, her emotions - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness - conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house, and school. 

On Wednesday, December 2, 10:30am, enjoy a screening of The Gift, an R-rated mystery thriller, starring Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall. A young married couple's lives are thrown into a harrowing tailspin when an acquaintance from the husband's past brings mysterious gifts and a horrifying secret to light after more than 20 years. 

On Thursday, December 3, 7pm, enjoy a screening Terminator Genisys, a PG-13-rated sci-fi action adventure, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. When John Connor, leader of the human resistance, sends Sgt. Kyle Reese back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor and safeguard the future, an unexpected turn of events creates a fractured timeline.

On Tuesday, December 8, 7pm, enjoy a screening of Minions, a PG-rated animated comedy adventure. Minions Stuart, Kevin and Bob are recruited by Scarlett Overkill, a super-villain who, alongside her inventor husband Herb, hatches a plot to take over the world.

On Wednesday, December 9, 10:30am, enjoy a screening of Mr. Holmes, a PG-rated mystery, starring Ian McKellan and Laura Linney. An aged, retired Sherlock Holmes, deals with early dementia, as he tries to remember his final case and a woman, the memory of whom still haunts him. He also befriends a fan, the young son of his housekeeper, who wants him to work again. 

On Thursday, December 10 at 7pm, enjoy a screening of Ant-Man, a PG-13-rated sci-fi action adventure, starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas. Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, cat burglar Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

On Friday, December 11 at 7pm, enjoy a screening of Trainwreck, an R-rated raunchy romantic comedy, starring Amy Schumer and Bill Hader. Having thought that monogamy was never possible, a commitment-phobic career woman may have to face her fears when she meets a good guy.

On Tuesday, December 15 at 7pm, enjoy a screening of Mission: Impossible -- Rogue Nation, a PG-13-rated action adventure thriller, starring Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner. Ethan and team take on their most impossible mission yet, eradicating the Syndicate - an International rogue organization as highly skilled as they are, committed to destroying the IMF. 

On Thursday, December 17 at 7pm, enjoy a screening of The Maze Runner -- Scorch Trials, a PG-13-rated sci-fi action thriller, starring Dylan O'Brien. After having escaped the Maze, the Gladers now face a new set of challenges on the open roads of a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. 

On Friday, December 18 at 7pm, enjoy a screening of Ted 2, an R-rated raunchy comedy, starring Mark Wahlberg. Newlywed couple Ted and Tami-Lynn want to have a baby, but in order to qualify to be a parent, Ted will have to prove he's a person in a court of law. 

On Tuesday, December 22 at 7pm, enjoy a screening of Black Mass, an R-rated biographical crime drama, starring Johnny Depp. The true story of Whitey Bulger, the brother of a state senator and the most infamous violent criminal in the history of South Boston, who became an FBI informant to take down a Mafia family invading his turf.

On Wednesday, December 23 at 10:30am, enjoy a screening of Fantastic 4, a PG-13-rated sci-fi action adventure, starring Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell. Four young outsiders teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe which alters their physical form in shocking ways. The four must learn to harness their new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.

On Tuesday, December 29 at 7pm, enjoy a screening of A Walk In The Woods, an R-rated adventure, starring Robert Redford and Nick Nolte, based on the Bill Bryson bestselling book. After spending two decades in England, Bill Bryson returns to the U.S., where he decides the best way to connect with his homeland is to hike the Appalachian Trail with one of his oldest friends.

On Wednesday, December 30 at 10:30am, enjoy a screening of Pan, a PG-rated adventure fantasy, starring Levi Miller and Hugh Jackman. 12-year-old orphan Peter is spirited away to the magical world of Neverland, where he finds both fun and danger, and ultimately discovers his destiny -- to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan.

Screenings are open to all ages, but we ask parents to be mindful of each film’s rating.  All attendees are expected to be able to sit still during the entire film and not be disruptive to fellow moviegoers.

All film screenings take place in the library’s first-floor, handicap-accessible Meeting Room.
