Obituary: Jo Anne McQuilkin, 65

TEWKSBURY: Jo Anne (Hitchins) McQuilkin, age 65, a resident of Tewksbury for over 30 years, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Sunday, December 13, 2015.
She was the beloved wife of Michael J. McQuilkin, with whom she celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on September 25, 2015.
Born in Camden, New Jersey on October 11, 1950, she was the daughter of Barbara (Meadors) Hitchins, who survives her, of Myrtle Beach, SC and the late William R. Hitchins.
Jo Anne was raised in Newark, Delaware. She attended local schools and graduated from Newark Senior High School in 1968. Following her high school years, she attended Suffolk University in Boston, where she went on to receive a Bachelors’ Degree and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
For the past 19 years, she was employed by the Enterprise Bank & Trust Company in Lowell, where she served as Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending.
Jo Anne devoted most of her adult life to helping children, young women, and families via numerous charitable and community organizations, including Lowell House, CTI, United Way, the Salvation Army, and Enterprise Banks’ own annual Christmas toy drive (which she coordinated for 12 years).
In her spare time, Jo Anne enjoyed personalized craft projects, attending the Fryeburg Fair, and day trips to the coast of Maine.
Jo Anne was the mother of Michael J. McQuilkin, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Melrose and Kevin R. McQuilkin of Malden. Sister of Jeff Hitchens and his wife Jeanne of Winston Salem, NC and the late William R. Hitchens, Jr.
She also leaves many extended family members and friends.
Calling hours are Sunday, Dec. 20, from 2-6 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 21, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Tewksbury Cemetery.
