Tewksbury is blessed to have several outstanding youth sports programs, serving thousands of local youngsters each year. Those leagues don't run by themselves.
The leagues functions on the energy of volunteers like Ken Griffin, this week's Wamesit Lanes Person of the Week!
Ken was nominated by fellow volunteer Bobby Hill. His nomination read:
Ken Griffin is a great example of a person who gives so much of his time to the youth of Tewksbury.
A list of his activities is as follows
  • Basketball coach of 2 teams.
  • TBBL board member, president
  • Started the youth clinic program
  • Baseballcoach of 2 plus teams
  • Baseballboard member
  • Coached youth soccer in the past.
  • Runs programs for kids on vacation weeks
  • He and his wife ran a teachers vs students fundraiser basketball game to raise money for programs / computers.
Is always available for whatever type of volunteer programs at schools or kids programs.
Ken and his wife, Jen, have lived in Tewksbury since 1999. They have two sons, Owen, 12, and Connor, 10.
"I started out (volunteering) when the kids were young. It was just something I wanted to do," said Griffin. "But as I got involved, the more I realized how much it takes to run a league and ho many people are involved."
Griffin's heart for "giving back" to the community is being passed along to his children. Connor and Owen have already started volunteering with the kindergarten/first grade clinic run by the TBBL.
For being named Person of the Week, Ken receives a gift card from Wamesit Lanes!
