Rodrigues, Puleo Honored As Hats Off Winners For December

Alyssa Rodrigues and Kyle Puleo have been named Tewksbury High/Rotary Club December Hats Off Award winners.
The TMHS seniors were honored at a Rotary Club luncheon on Dec. 17 at the Tewksbury Country Club.
Alyssa is the daughter of Decio and Marta Rodrigues, She is a member of the Drama Club and plays soccer for the Tyngsboro Sports Center.
Alyssa is very active in the community. She involved in Civil Air Patrol and sits on the Board of the Lowell Portuguese Youth Center.
She presently works at Launch Trampoline Park in Nashua and has also worked security at Canobie Lake Park in Salem.
Beyond high school, Alyssa has already enlisted in the Army and has hopes of becoming a Police Officer.
Nominating faculty members Ms. Cynthia Peloquin and Ms. Dustine Puma said that Alyssa is the kind of person who does kind things even when no one is looking. She gets along well with everyone and she uses that ability to bring together groups of students who wouldn’t normally work together. “She’s awesome!” they said.
Kyle Puleo is the son of Michael and Cindy Puleo.
Kyle has excelled academically, scoring 1760 on his SATs. He has passed both the AP Chemistry and AP US History Exams and has been the recipient of numerous Renaissance Gold and Silver Card Awards. He is also the recipient of a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship.
Outside the classroom, Kyle is president of the International Club and a member of the Peer Leadership Club.
Kyle is member of the Boys Scouts, where he earned his Eagle Scout. He is also a member of the Venture Scouts (Coed Branch of Scouting for ages 14-21) and is a member of Order of the Arrow (aka: Scouting’s National Honors Society).
Athletically, Kyle was captain of the cross country team and is a member of both the winter track and spring track teams.
Kyle is a recipient of Roland Gilbault Award of Servant Leadership and a recipient of Cross Country Coaches Award.
Kyle volunteers about 150 hours per year as a staff member for the National Youth Leadership Training. He also volunteer at Cor Unum Soup Kitchen and at the Baystate Marathon.
Kyle has organized and lead a service project for Tewksbury Teen Center and has participated in several collection drives and fundraisers for various charities, including Soles4Souls, Doctors without Borders, UNICEF, and Victims of the Nepal Earthquake.
Kyle has been employed for the past two years as a busser and a food runner at Angelina’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria.
Nominating faculty member Ms. Dustine Puma states that Kyle is a genuinely awesome kid. He is a hard worker who will do his best all of the time with a smile on his face. She also reports that he is an excellent student, athlete, captain, and person. His efforts within the classroom and out of the classroom demonstrate the quality of his character and his well-rounded activities. She explains that Kyle Puleo is one of the best TMHS has to offer.
