Obituary: James T. Powers, 99

TEWKSBURY: James T. Powers, 99 years old, of Tewksbury, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Palm Center in Chelmsford.
He was the beloved husband of 70 years to Pauline M. (Boisvert) Powers.
Born in Lowell on December 28, 1916, he was the son of the late James J. Powers and the late Mary (Wholey) Powers.
James attended Lowell schools and graduated from Lowell High School in 1935.
He was a Navy Veteran of World War II.
Prior to his retirement from General Electric in 1979, he was employed for 38 years as a machinist.
James enjoyed spending his time with family and friends.
During the summer months he loved spending time at the beach and always looked forward to the next vacation.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, James A. Powers and his wife Margaret Rose Powers of Haverhill and Gerald R. Powers and his wife Karen Bartlett Powers of Westminster; five grandchildren, Katie Powers of Tewksbury, Kristin Powers and her companion David Roberts of San Francisco, CA, Amy Powers of Tewksbury, Michelle Grewal and her husband Navjit of Holden, Tracy Powers and her fiancé Tim Roberts of Dracut; three great grandchildren, Hannah Tillson of Tewksbury, Jasmine and Karan Grewal of Holden; also many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Jim was the brother of the late Catherine Gerow and the late Francis Powers.
The family would like to thank the Staff at Palm Center for their loving and supportive care of James.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Thursday, Jan. 21, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241, the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
