More Than 500 Tewksbury Homes Remain Without Power

Feb 06, 2016 09:46AM ● By Bill Gilman
A Friday storm that started out looking like a bust wound up packing a bit of a punch in the Merrimack Valley.
Tewksbury wound up with an estimated 10 inches of heavy wet snow, taking down tree limbs and power lines throughout the town and knocking out power to more than 1,200 homes.
As of 10 a.m. Saturday, with temperatures dipping into the low 20s, more than 500 homes remained without power.
According to National Grid, crews will be working throughout the day to restore power, but that some customers will not see the lights come back on until 9 p.m. this evening.
Tewksbury Police are reporting that there are still tree limbs and wires down on some roads and are advising extreme caution when driving.
