A tip from an alert resident led to the arrest of a Lowell man, who led police on a vehicle and foot chase before being apprehended.
Jesus Roldan, 26, 12 Jennings Place, Lowell, was arrested in the early morning hours of Feb. 16. He is charged with receiving stolen property under $250, Possession of a Class A substance (heroin), failure to stop for a police officer and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
The incident began just before 3 a.m., when Tewksbury Police received a call from a Jodi Drive resident, who reported seeing a man get out of his vehicle, walk around the front of her house, then walk around the front of her neighbor's house.
She provided a description of the man and his vehicle and two officers were sent to the scene. The officers then checked the area, looking for the vehicle.
One of the officers reported stopping a vehicle matching the description provided and said the suspect left the vehicle and fled on foot.
Two more officers responded to provide backup. State Police, a K9 unit and Lowell Police were notified and responded.
A Lowell Police officer reported finding fresh footprints in the snow behind a home on Whipple Road.
A short time later, a Tewksbury officer reported that the suspect was in custody.
Roldan was arraigned in Lowell District Court.
