A Lowell man faces felony human trafficking charges after being arrested for allegedly renting out girls from a Tewksbury hotel.
Leo Rith Sat, 38, of 55 S. Whipple Street, Lowell is charged with human trafficking, deriving support from prostitution and sexual conduct for a fee.
According to Tewksbury Police Chief Timothy Sheehan, Dispatch received a call on Friday, Feb. 19 from an alert employee at the Extended Stay America Hotel on Andover Street, who reported that he was concerned about two young females (both over 18) who appeared to be under the direction of Sat.
TPD Detectives responded to the scene and immediately began an investigation. According to Sheehan, Detectives determined Sat had recruited the females and drove them to Tewksbury from Providence, RI.
"Sat rented a hotel room in order for the females to conduct sexual acts for a fee and to provide him with a percentage of the money," said Sheehan.
Sat was placed in custody at the Extended Stay. He was arraigned at Lowell District Court on Monday.
