Election 2016 Endorsement: Ruth Chou Is The Best Choice For GOP State Committee

Feb 25, 2016 09:42AM ● By Bill Gilman
To the Editor:

With the Presidential primaries in full swing, it is easy to forget that on March 1st, the Republicans in the Second Essex and Middlesex District will go to the polls to elect a new State Committeewoman for our district.

Now, you might be wondering what a State Committeeperson actually does. The Republican State Committee steers the direction of our party for the next four years, which includes a reelection campaign for Governor Baker in 2018. The committee elects our national committeeman and woman to send to the RNC. The Committee also works with the party to find and support candidates for statewide and State House elections, making the role of the committee vital to the well-being of our Commonwealth.

Some Beacon Hill power brokers are attempting to silence conservatives and boot them from the State Committee to further alienate the base of our party while catering to their own establishment interests. How soon these establishment “leaders” forget that without our base, our party will crumble. After all, it was with the support of full-platform conservatives that put Governor Baker in the corner office in 2014.

This same establishment versus base conflict is happening here in our district, which is why I am supporting my friend, Ruth Chou in her run for Republican State Committeewoman. Ruth has fought tirelessly for issues she believes in, leading the charge in Tewksbury against disastrous Common Core standards. She promises to stand up for the unborn and their mothers. Ruth pledges to protect the rights of the individuals against oppressive government and further the conservative movement in Massachusetts. I am confident Ruth will bring robust conservatism to a state party that desperately needs it.

I know that Ruth will get the job done for our party, for our district, and for our state. With that in mind, I encourage those pulling a Republican ballot on March 1st in Andover, Dracut, Lawrence, or Tewksbury to join me in voting for the proven conservative in this race. I ask that you vote for my friend, Ruth Chou.
