TGBL Roundup: Jazz Tip Sonics In Thriller, Eagles Outgun Wildcats

Sonics: 36 vs. Jazz: 37

The Sonics finished the regular season with an exciting game against the Jazz.  Marissa Ladderbush led all scorers for the Sonics with 14 points.  Additional scoring was provided by Julia Cafferty (9), Rebecca DeFrancesco (5), Alicia Barbati (4), Alexa Harrington (2), and Samira El Hakim (2).  Brooke Fullerton and Amber Butaro provided solid rebounding on both ends of the court.  Janine Richardson owned the center preventing easy baskets in the paint.  Molly O'Neil had a couple of shot attempts and grabbed a couple of loose weak side rebounds.  The Sonics and Jazz gave the spectators quite an exciting game!


Storm: 10 vs. Liberty: 5 

Storm finished the regular season with a 10-5 victory over Liberty. They earned a 7-3-1 record which was for 3rd place in the Junior Division.  Storm played a very well balanced game, leading the way was Madelyn Montejo (6 points and 7 rebounds), Brooklyn DeGrechie (2 points, 4 rebounds 3 steals) and Dakota Malizia (2 points and 2 steals).  Helping the team in those scores was Skylar Auth and Jocelyn Kinnon who helped bring up the ball and assisted on the baskets.  Defense was led by Emily Tryder, Cassidy Paige and Darya Mehrabani they played exceptional defense.  Storm will be getting ready for the playoff tournament which will begin next Saturday.  


Jayhawks 23 vs. Badgers: 13

The Girls In Town Basketball program held week 11 this past weekend and the Jayhawks hosted the Badgers in a game that came down to the 4th Quarter.  Both teams played excellent defense throughout the game and the points allowed though 3 quarters shows that.  Brianna Iandoli hit the 1st basket for her Team today, had 5 points total with one being a great 3 pointer.  Saddie Basile came up huge on the boards with 10 rebounds, MaryKate Callinan was the leading scoring with 13 points, and Jordan Gardner grabbed 7 rebounds and hit a key basket in the 4th quarter to have 2 pts on the day.  Madison Kearney had 3 steals and 4 assist with some great passing.  Erin Mclntyre provided 3 pts, 4 steals and 4 rebounds and Kayla Mirisola had 3 assists, 2 steals and some key rebounds to help out down low.   This was the last regular season game and the Jayhawks are now looking forward to March Madness!

Eagles: 36 vs. Wildcats: 27

The Eagles finished off their regular season with a 36 to 27 victory against the Wildcats on Saturday. They finished the year tied for second place with an 8 - 3 record. An around solid game form the Eagles on Saturday, with contributions from everyone. The guard work of Hannah Kocsmiersky, Allie Indingaro and Catalina Burke set the tone for the game early, with all three causing many turnovers. Allie led the team in scoring with 18, following by Madison Stovesand, Megan Boudreau, Catalina, and Jaclyn Dillon all with 4 each and Amanda Moreira with 2. Madison, Megan, and Jaclyn did their usual good job on the boards. Next up, its on to March Madness.

Wolverines: 26 vs. Huskies: 15 

The Wolverines visited the Huskies in the final regular season game of the season and came away with a victory, 26-15.  Jessica Hickey led all Wolverine scorers with 8 points in the game, followed by Alyssa Marchelletta (6) and Abby MacAllister, Brooke Woodman, Emily Walker, Nicole Potito, Olivia Paulding and Sara Hunt (2 each).  Defense and rebounding keyed the Wolverines' victory with MacAllister, Woodman and Hickey collecting 6 rebounds each, Marchelletta, Potito, and Hunt (5 each), Walker, Paulding and Lexie Bobotas (2). Paulding and Walker each had 4 steals and Woodman and Potito each had 2 blocked shots in the game.  With the victory, the Wolverines completed a very successful undefeated regular season.

Tewksbury 7B: 35 vs. Fidelity House 7: 27

The 7Blue team finished the regular season 11-1 with a hard fought battle against Arlington's Fidelity House.  Tewksbury had a slow start in the 1st half, gathering only 8 points, but exploded in the second half with 27 points.  Christina Capachietti and Brianna Iandoli started as the guard pair, immediately trying to work the ball into the forwards.  Forwards Amanda Moreira and Meg Boudreau put up good shots but none were falling in the first half.  Center Abby Demos worked hard to get rebounds against the tall Fidelity House forwards.  Michelle Hinkle and Kaitlyn Oates took their turn at the helm as guards, moving the ball around in the offense.  Forward Abby Hansbury had early shots that went in-and-out of the net, while center Jaclyn Dillon played good defense in the key.  The turning point for 7B came in the second half, with the press creating multiple turnovers.  Hinkle (12pts) and Capachietti (8pts) capitalized on many steals and offensive drives to net points in the second half.  Oates and Iandoli (2pts) executed great traps in the press to cause errant opponent passes.  Moreira executed smart in-bounding, leading to assists that helped bolster the team and change the momentum of the game.  Hansbury (6pts) scored off outside shots, while Demos (2pts) scored an important layup during the 7B rally.  Boudreau (4pts) and Dillon grabbed numerous defensive rebounds late in the second half to secure the Tewksbury win.
