Tournament Roundup: TMHS Hockey Advances, Shawsheen Hoops Falls

Division 2 North

No. 3 Tewksbury 4, No. 14 Revere/Malden 0

Tewksbury High raced to a 3-0 lead after one period and rolled to a 4-0 win over Revere/Malden (9-10-2) in the opening round of the Division 2 North Tournament on Tuesday.

Ryan Flynn and Ryan Sheehan each had a goal and an assist to lead the Redmen attack. Christopher Raymond posted the shutout.

Dario Riparo and Dom Renari also had goals for Tewksbury.
The Redmen (14-5-2) will meet No. 6 Gloucester (13-5-3) at 6:30 p.m., Friday, at the Chelmsford Forum in a quarterfinal showdown.

Basketball

Division 3 North

No. 14 Stoneham 60, No. 3 Shawsheen Tech 50

Third-seeded Shawsheen Tech (12-7) made an early exit from the Division 3 North Tournament with a 60-50 upset loss to No. 14 Stoneham (8-13).

Carmine Rogato the Rams with 14 points, five rebounds and three steals. Senior Jared Roane added 11 points and five rebounds.

Sean Hines had 10 points and rebounds for Shawsheen.

Girls hockey

Division 2 State Tournament

Top-seeded Tewksbury/Methuen (16-1-3) will open play in the Division 2 State Tournament on Saturday at 5:50 p.m. at Methuen against No. 17 Longmeadow (12-6-1).

Longmeadow advanced with a 2-0 win over Dennis-Yarmouth in the Preliminary Round.

With a win over Longmeadow, Tewksbury/Metheun would advance to the Quarterfinals on March 12 in Bourne.

Girls Basketball

Division 4 North Tournament

No. 9 Shawsheen Tech 61, No. 8 Whittier 47

Shawsheen Tech (13-8) upset Whittier (12-9) in the First Round of the Division 4 North Tournament. The Rams advance to take on No. 1 Fenway (17-3) in the Quarterfinals on Friday at 6 p.m..
