The Tewksbury Jr. Redmen Mite AA Hockey Team completed their 2015-2016 season by winning the Valley Hockey League Championship.  The team entered playoffs on an 8-game winning streak which moved the Jr. Redmen into 2nd place in their division, good for a 1st round playoff bye.

On Saturday March 12th the Jr. Redmen skated against the Acton-Boxboro Colonials in a semi-final battle.   Acton-Boxboro jumped out to an early 3-1 lead but the locals battled back and scored 8 unanswered goals.  The offensive outburst was led by Jake Batts, Kevin Andriolo, Ben Christopher, Andrew Conroy, Kyle MacKeen, and Jack Ryan.  Once the Jr. Redmen took the lead the Colonials were unable to get on the scoreboard again thanks to the all-world goaltending by Lydia Barnes and the steel-curtain defense of Lyla Chapman, Paul Ryan, TJ Garvey, and Aidan Shanahan.  The Jr. Redmen left the rink with a convincing 9-3 win and a spot in the Championship Game.

On Sunday March 13th the Jr. Redmen were back at Haverhill Valley Forum for a battle with the 1st place Newburyport Clippers in front of a sellout crowd that was largely made up of Redmen supporters.  The Clippers came out flying and jumped out to an early 3-0 lead.  The Jr. Redmen gained some momentum with time winding down in the 1st period as they scored with 4.2 seconds left to cut the lead to 3-1.  The Clippers increased their lead to 4-1 early in the 2nd period but that was the end of the scoring for the Clippers as Lydia Barnes made a number of saves that had the fans from both teams cheering for her.  The Jr. Redmen once again got outstanding defensive efforts from TJ Garvey, Aidan Shanahan, Paul Ryan, and Lyla Chapman.  The strong goaltending & defense allowed the offense to get going and the Jr. Redmen once again went on a scoring barrage, as they potted 9 consecutive goals to take a 10-4 lead.  The offensive attack was led by Ryan MacKeen, Jack Ryan, Andrew Conroy, Ben Christopher, Jake Batts, and Kevin Andriolo.  As time ran off the clock the Jr. Redmen Mite AA team pig-piled on goalie Lydia Barnes and celebrated their Championship.

The Jr. Redmen Mite AA Hockey Team would like to thank all of their parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends for making this playoff weekend such a memorable experience.
