Great rebounding effort by Madison, Megan and Jaclyn was a big part of the victory.  Intermediates - Championship Game

 Waves: 32 vs. Eagles: 25

The Semi Finals and Championship games were played on Saturday for the Girls Intermediate In-Town Basketball and the Waves proved to be the stronger team.  After beating the Jayhawks in the Semi -Finals earlier in the day, the Waves went on to face the Eagles who had a great season record.  The first period was neck and neck with both teams playing great defense and ending the period with the Waves up by one point. Katie Polimeno (2pts) and Madison Pierce (4pts) lead the way with key steals and strong rebounding. Ashley Demers (2pts) was great at finding the open girl and on several occasions stopping the Eagles drive.  Second period was great team play with leading scorer Lexi Polimeno (17pts) controlling the period with fast break lay-ups and tough defensive player Maeve Cahill chasing down loose balls.  Third period Samira Cook made her presence known with great defensive moves and Kendal Von Kahle put in 2pts to add to the lead.  Ashley Demers was fabulous on both sides of the court with a great steals stopping the Jayhawks in their tracks.  The 4th period with the Waves leading sealed the deal with Lexi and Katie Polimeno stealing the ball and taking it to the hoop. Darielle Wilson (2pts) was strong down low grabbing key rebounds and Izabel Moriera (2pts) was great at protecting the key.   The Waves had tremendous all around team plays with scoring coming from all the members and unselfish passing, which led to their victory. The Eagles' Madison Stovesand and Ali Indingaro were strong key players who made the Waves work hard for win. Great season and two great teams ending the TGBL year with an exciting finish.

Eagles: 25 vs. Waves: 35

The Eagles achieved their goal this season of making it all the way to the Championship Game. They run up against a solid Waves team in the finals and lost 35 to 25. The Eagles had a 1 point lead at the half of 16 to 15. In the end, Lexi Polimeno of the Waves was too much to handle, scoring over half of their points. The guard play of Allie Indingaro, Catalina Burke, Rose Strobel, Amanda Moreira and Hannah Kocsmiersky did their best to slow the Waves fast break down. Madison Stovesand, Megan Boudreau, Jaclyn Dillon and Alyssandra Ragusa did a great job of rebounding. Their scoring came from Allie with 10, Madison with 5, Megan and Jaclyn with 4 each and Rose and Catalina with 1 each. Congratulations on a great season Eagles!

 Seniors - Semi Finals

Spurs: 31 vs. Pacers: 24 (2/27/16)

The Spurs Championship run got started off 2 weeks ago versus a strong Pacers team!  As usual the Spurs were shorthanded with only 7 players, so a lot of girls had to play 3 qtrs. But like we have all year these girls stepped up and play great team defense! The guards (Mikayla Dec, Kendra Waugh and Sydney Crowley) contesting every shot with hands up and the forwards (Abby Naugler, Rachel Conway, Isabella Beyloune and Isabelle Frost) boxing out grabbing all defensive rebounds! This team always shares the ball and finds the open players and in the 2nd quarter Kendra Waugh benefited from the great passing scoring 7 points in under a minute! This gave us the lead we would not relinquish the rest of the game! Spurs win to move on to March Madness 31-24. The team MVP all year led us in Scoring Isabella Beyloune with 10 pts, Kendra Waugh 7pts, Isabelle Frost 6pts, Mikalya Dec 4 pts, Rachel Conway and Sydney Crowley

Spurs: 39 vs. Sonics: 29

The first game of March madness had us facing a very strong #2 seed Sonics team! Still missing the injured Erin Gallella, but we are able to welcome back 2 huge players for the Spurs: Gianna Bourasso and Lizzy Gallella. Awesome being able to have 9 players and having 2 weeks to rest up!  As we have all season great defense keeps us close, our guards contesting every shot with hands up and the forwards boxing out grabbing all defensive rebounds! Gianna Bourassa welcomed herself back with a huge 6 points in the 1st qtr and then the team MVP (Isabella) exploded for 12 pts in the 3rd quarter giving us a large lead heading into the 4th quarter. The second and 4th qtr scoring machines were Isabelle with 6 pts and Lizzy with 8 pts. Again ball movement is the key and setting well timed picks opened up the floor for these players to score these points. Final score Spurs 39-29. Leading the team in scoring as she has all season was Isabella 13 points, Gianna 8pts, Lizzy 8 pts, Isabelle 6 pts, Mikayla 4 pts.

Spurs: 39 vs. Sonics: 29

The Sonics came up short against a tough Spurs team in the March Madness Semifinal game.  Leading the way for the Sonics on the offensive end was Alexa Harrington and Marissa Ladderbush both scoring 7 points apiece.  Additional scoring was had by Samira El Hakim (5), Molly O'Neill (4), Julia Cafferty (4), and Alicia Barbati (2).  Rebecca DeFrancesco guided the offense in the point guard playing both quarters with an injured knee. Janine Richardson commanded the center position preventing some easy baskets.  Amber Buttaro shifted between two positions while generating some much needed rebounds.  Brooke Fullerton provided the rebounding presence as she has done all season.

Seniors - Championship Game

Spurs: 27 vs. Jazz: 23

Moving on to the Championship game vs the loaded #1 seeded Jazz. This was a defensive Slug fest all game!  The 1st Qtr the Spurs could not find the basket! Staring at an 8-0 deficit with just over a minute to go Abby puts back an offensive rebound for 2 pts to break the shutout and then with under 20 seconds to go hits another shot from just to the right of the free throw line to bring us to 8-4 entering the 2nd qtr. The 2nd qtr again was a great defensive battle, but Lizzy had a big qtr and finished it by draining a 3 pointer with under 15 seconds to play to tie the game at 13 going into the half. The second half our defense played even better than the 1st half and again Isabella was huge scoring with great drives giving us the lead heading into the 4th quarter. As we have all season with a lead in the 4 qtr, we dug in and never gave the lead up with Lizzy hitting some huge shots again to keep us on top. Final Score 27-23 Spurs Win the Championship!!! Team Scoring Lizzy 13 pts, Isabella 5 pts, Abby 4 pts, Isabelle 3 pts and Mikayla 2 pts.  This season was all about team work and playing great defense!!! Great Job Spurs!!!!
