School Committee Chair Krissy Polimeno is running for re-election.

Candidate Statement From Krissy Polimeno

I am seeking re-election to the Tewksbury School Committee on April 2nd, 2016. As past and present Chairperson of the School Committee, I have become extremely knowledgeable of all aspects of our schools which enhances my ability to best serve our community. My past six years on the committee have been both challenging and rewarding. I was honored to be selected in 2012 for the All-State School Committee Award recognizing my support for children and public education. My husband Phil and I have three children who attend the Tewksbury Public Schools and my experience as a parent, coupled with my education degree and teaching experience, has prepared me for my role on the School Committee. My core values of “commitment, leadership and collaboration” have served me well and have been invaluable to me in achieving our priorities. My record demonstrates strong advocacy for all students in the Tewksbury Public Schools. I am proud of our students and their accomplishments, and it gives me great pleasure to see first hand the professional growth of our district. Highlights of recent district accomplishments include:

* Increased annual school budget resulting in stabilization
* Received Notification of Selection to the MSBA Program for a New Elementary School
* Constructed new Tewksbury Memorial High School (TMHS)
* Instituted smaller classroom sizes (Kindergarten through 8th grade)
* Implemented longer instruction school day for elementary schools
* Established new Waterfall Scheduling at THMS beginning in 2016
* Updated and enhanced technology and computer infrastructure throughout the district
* Implemented ASPEN Gradebook/Student Portal at all grade levels for families
* Implemented A.L.I.C.E. security protocols in all schools
* Established additional Advanced Placement Courses at TMHS
* Reviewed current curriculum and implemented new Math/Geography/Science series
* Implemented Community Pass for online payment processing
* Implemented Best Buddies Program at TMHS in 2015
* Negotiated successful Collective Bargaining contracts in 2013 and 2016 for: Tewksbury Teachers Association, Tewksbury Administrators Group, Nurses, Non-Union Personnel, Educational Support Personnel, Custodians, Food Service and Secretaries

If I am re-elected to serve on the School Committee for another term, my goals would be to continue the focus on student achievement, foster a shared vision between the school system and the community, maintain my role as a positive influence on the committee, and support high quality, cost effective educational programs. I believe that our children are the future of this community. I pledge to work diligently to ensure that the Tewksbuy School System will provide the best possible education for each student to help foster a successful future. Voters can be assured I will continue to promote fiscally responsibility with sound decision making. I believe an excellent school system in Tewksbury benefits all residents.

I wish to extend a big thank you to the community for your support of our schools which ultimately benefits our students. I welcome the opportunity to continue to serve the students, parents, school staff and Tewksbury community and respectfully ask for your vote on April 2nd, 2016.
