Tewksbury Girls 6A & 7A Travel Teams Win 'March Madness' Tournament Championships for Second Year In A Row

The Tewksbury Girls 6A & 7A teams returned to the North Andover March Madness tournament at Brooks Acadamy on 3/12 in hopes of repeating their Championship success from last year in their respective Divisions.  In their first games, both teams didn't quite have enough in the tank to defeat strong opponents, but they knew what they needed to do in the following two games to give themselves a chance to repeat.

In their next games, both teams fought hard and dug deep to eventually both finish Saturday 1-1 and looking at must win scenarios for Sunday's final first round games in their respective Divisions.  On Sunday afternoon both teams came to play with terrific defense and tremendous ball movement on offense and were able to readily beat their opponents earning an opportunity to return to the championship games for the 2nd year.

The 6A team fought a closely contested battle, but in the end their tenacity and team play gave them the edge and they defeated a strong Petucket team 31-26.  From the beginning tip off, the Tewksbury 7A girls defense was relentless and they could not be stopped on offense, especially in transition, and the girls emerged victorious with a convincing victory over Pentucket 50-32.  Both teams earned their 2nd Championship in as many years.  Congratulations to both the 6A & 7A girls for very successful regular seasons and great, tournament victory ends to their seasons!
