Election 2016 Endorsement: Former Selectman Supports Sullivan For School Committee

Mar 28, 2016 01:00PM ● By Bill Gilman

To the Editor:

I am writing this letter in support of Keith Sullivan and his campaign for a seat on the Tewksbury School Committee.

Over the last year I have had conversations with many residents who are concerned about issues with our current School Committee.  One of the residents I spoke with, Keith Sullivan, wanted to step up and help move things in the right direction.  I found myself immediately drawn to his passion around education and his desire to find solutions rather than point figures.

For those who attended Candidates’ night this week it would have been difficult not to recognize the energy Keith has and his clear vision of how he wants to be part of the solution.   Residents need to know they have people in their town government that they can talk to and who will listen to their concerns, use discretion and take appropriate action.    Leaders who will stand up in tough times and admit areas for improvement while figuring out how we can all work together to make things better.

As our community deals with complex issues, Keith’s leadership and thoughtful decision making is what our children need.    We don’t need false hope or empty promises, but a candidate that will give us a real vision of what a stronger school system should look like.

It has been a number of years since we have seen this many people interested in running for School Committee.  I believe that reflects concerns that we feel as parents and also is a reason that we need new voices representing us in our school system.

I am supporting Keith Sullivan for election to School Committee because as a resident I believe he will help improve our schools.   I believe that Keith will address the tough issues and communicate with the residents on how they can help.  I encourage you to cast one of your votes for Keith Sullivan on April 2nd.
