Election 2016 Endorsement: Tewksbury Should Re-Elect Polimeno To School Committee

Mar 31, 2016 07:04PM ● By Bill Gilman

To the Editor:

The purpose of this letter is to support the candidacy of Krissy Polimeno for re-election to the Tewksbury School Committee. I am a lifelong resident of Tewksbury and a parent of four children that have either gone through the Tewksbury school system or still attend our schools. There have been many great public servants that have served on our School Committee over the years. Few have had a positive impact at the level of Krissy Polimeno.

Over the past decade, the Tewksbury school system has risen to one of the top school districts in the area. There have been many improvements from the infrastructure, staffing, technology, special education, and extracurricular programs. Krissy was a leader or at least a key catalyst in virtually every initiative to improve our schools over this time span.

Krissy was among the leaders of the group that worked to make the new High School a reality. She led another group to raise money for technology in our elementary schools with the Town-Wide Auction. Krissy was instrumental in developing a Best Buddies program at TMHS that is coordinated by my husband Brian Aylward and Michelle Dick, both teachers at the High School.

Krissy Polimeno is well respected by the school administrators and the teachers in the system alike. She has also been able to encourage many people from the community to take an active part in our educational system. She has never backed away from taking on tough challenges to improve our schools. Simply put, our school system is in a much better place than it was ten years ago and Krissy has been a big part of that improvement. I hope that you will join me in supporting Krissy Polimeno for re-election to the Tewksbury School Committee on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016.
