No Recount In Board Of Health Race Decided By Five Votes

Despite a race decided by just five votes, there will be no recount in the Board of Health Election.
Along with other winners in the 2016 Tewksbury Municipal Election, new BOH members Anthony Boschetti, DDS and George Ferdinand were sworn in by Town Clerk Denise Graffeo in a ceremony at Town Hall Monday night.
According to the final vote tallies, made official by Town Clerk Denise Clerk on Monday, Boschetti easily won one of the two open seats on the board with 1,582 votes. Ferdinand was second with 1,267, with Atty. Robert Scarano falling just short at 1,262.
Despite the close finish, Scarano said he has no intention of filing papers requesting a recall within the 10-day window to do so.
"No, I won't be asking for a recount," said Scarano. "I respect the voters too much and I respect the process and the people who working hard running the election too much to ask for a recount. So, congratulations to the winners."
Scarano said his election loss does not mean he will remain on the sidelines.
"I'll remain active in the process and I'll be doing what I can to make sure the board addresses issues I feel are important to the community," he said.
Ferdinand said he was thrilled to win one of the two available seats on the board and was anxious to get to work.
"I can't wait for the first meeting," he said. "On behalf of myself and the members of the Committee To Election George Ferdinand, I just want to thank everyone for their support and thank everyone who took the time to come out and vote for me."
Boschetti and Ferdinand replace Phil French and Christine Kinnon, who opted not to seek re-election. The two new members will take their seats, alongside Kathleen Brothers, Charles Roux and Raymond Barry, at the board's next meeting, Thursday, April 21, 6 p.m. at Town Hall.
