Car's Hidden Compartment Can't Stop Tewksbury K-9 From Finding Heroin

Apr 27, 2016 07:29PM ● By Bill Gilman

A drug dealer thought he was pretty clever, hiding heroin in a secret compartment in his vehicle.

Apparently, he never met Geox.

During a follow-up investigation to a traffic stop, the Tewksbury K9 sniffed out 14 grams of heroin, leading to the arrest of Gilbert Rosario-Tejeda, 22, of 24 Immon Street, Lawrence. He has been charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin (class a substance), unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and failure to signal.

According to Tewksbury Police Chief Timothy Sheehan, the incident began Sunday, when detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 495 North just past Exit 38 and identified Rosario-Tejeda as the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle.  During the stop, detectives requested assistance from the Tewksbury Police K-9 Unit. Enter Geox and his talented nose.

Rosario-Tejeda was arraigned Monday at Lowell District Court.
