Early this morning around 4:00 a.m., the Tewksbury Police Department - MA requested K9 assistance in searching for a man that fled a local motel on foot while intoxicated and threatened to harm himself.
Tropper Dan Purtell and K9 Neko responded to assist. K9 Neko was deployed from the rear parking lot of the motel where he acquired a scent and began tra
cking up a path and out onto train tracks. Neko continued tracking down the tracks until he turned into the wood line. Neko continued tracking deeper into the woods until he pulled over to a tent and started to bark.
Tewksbury officers were able to make contact with the lone occupant, have him exit and identify him as the individual they were looking for. He was then walked out of the woods and transported to the hospital by the Tewksbury Fire Department for observation.
