State Representative Jim Miceli (D-Wilmington) will be running unopposed for his 21st term.
Wilmington Town Clerk Sharon George and Tewksbury Town Clerk Denise Graffeo both confirmed that no candidate, besides Miceli, submitted nomination papers to seek the office prior to Tuesday's 5pm deadline.
Miceli, who has held the seat since 1977, announced his intentions to seek re-election as early as last year's Wilmington Democratic Town Committee's Annual Breakfast.
He represents the 19th Middlesex District, which includes much of Wilmington (Precincts 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6) and Tewksbury (Precincts 1, 1A, 2, 2A, 4, 4A).
Miceli currently serves on the powerful House Committee on Ways & Means, as well as on the Joint Committees for Ways & Means, Elder Affairs, Election Laws, and Public Service.
This year's State Primary will be held on Thursday, September 8. The State Election will be held on Tuesday, November 8.
