To The Editor:
I am writing to alert my fellow Tewksbury residents of the upcoming National Letter Carriers Food Drive scheduled for Saturday May 14th here in town. As a director/volunteer of the Tewksbury Community Pantry, the local organization that benefits directly from this effort, I can personally attest to the importance of this drive. Frankly, it is critical in the pantry’s ability each year to support the many people in town who depend on us for monthly food supplies. For many years, I’ve witnessed firsthand the generosity of Tewksbury residents when this drive is held and I can assure readers that their concern for fellow residents in need is much needed and appreciated. One of the challenges faced by organizers of this annual event is the need to spread the word, so that people can be reminded to leave non-perishable, currently dated food by their mailbox to be picked up by our MVP’s that day, our letter carriers. On behalf of the many people who rely on the pantry for support, I urge Tewksbury to once again remember to be generous on Saturday May 14th and I thank all for their support.
