Senior Center Scene: Bereavement Group, Day Trips, Zumba Classes

*NEW* ZUMBA GOLD, – Fitness/Dance Class – Every Friday beginning June 10th  - 10:45am-11:30am - $3.00/class


Bereavement Support Group – Open to all those who have experienced a loss. Call the senior center to sign up or feel free to drop in.  Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday each month at 10:00am.

DAY TRIPS

June 5, Senior Day at Canobie Lake Park (Free Admission for Seniors aged 60 plus w/valid ID)

June 22, Visit the Sand Sculpture Event at Hampton Beach, admission is free. 

We will provide a bus to these two events provided there is enough interest.  

The cost for bus trip will be approximately $17.00p/p. If you are interested in signing up for either day, please call the Senior Center at 978-640-4480 to be put on the list.


June 24 Visit to Wells/Ogunquit/York, Maine. Cost is $17.00 per person. Trip includes round trip bus transportation.  Lunch and shopping will be on your own.


2016 MEMORIAL DAY PARADE – VOLUNTEERS NEDED – come in or call the Senior Center to volunteer 978-640-4480.  Ask for Diane or Ashley.

One-hour Educational Programs—FREE and Open to the General Public—Refreshments will be served—Sign up at the Senior Center or by calling 978-640-4480


Thurs. May 19th at 1:00PM– Aging & Vision Loss

Vision is a complex sense involving the ability to see contrast, detail, and the location of objects in the environment.  Although the eye usually changes with age, these natural changes are correctable.  Changes caused by age-related eye diseases are not. What are the symptoms of age-related eye diseases? Have you recently been diagnosed with an eye disease such as macular degeneration?   How does one cope with vision changes? Presented by Carol Curdo of the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

 

Wednesday, June 8, 9:00-11:00am, at the Senior Center.  Do you love to knit or crochet?  Knockers for New England is a group that knits or crochets prosthetic breasts for woman that have undergone mastectomies or lumpectomies. Lowell General Hospital Cancer Center is placing them in the take home bags for woman who have had recent surgeries as well as for follow ups. They are looking for volunteers to knit more Knockers! They will bring all the supplies. We hope to see you there!


Thursday, July 14th, 12:00-2:30pm, A LUNCH & LEARN presented by Attorney Walker of Northeast Legal Team, LLC from Andover, MA is being held in the Senior Center Conference Room,  FREE lunch served will be served to all participants. Join us in this fun Estate Planning “Lunch and Learn” event.  Attorney Walker will explain and simplify the complex law behind documents such as Wills, Powers of Attorney and he will discuss Medicaid and Asset Protection. Every participant will receive a FREE Will and Power of Attorney. Seating is limited. Please RSVP.

 

Can’t make the workshop?  No problem. Attorney Walker will also be holding one-on-one meetings on the 4th Wednesday of the month beginning on June 22nd.
