VIDEO, PHOTOS: Tewksbury Memorial High School 2016 Commencement Exercises

A celebration of the past and a look to the future were themes, as more than 240 students were awarded diplomas at the 2016 Tewksbury Memorial High School Commencement exercises on June 3.
The Class of 2016 is the first class to spend all four years at the new Tewksbury High complex.
Family and friends packed the TMHS Gymnasium for a ceremony that laughter, poignant moments and a bit of student rebellion.
Among the highlights:
  • Despite being directed not to because of a new district policy, student speaker James Boucher identified himself as the class Valedictorian and received thunderous applause. He also identified Aria Porzio as Salutatorian.
  • Aurelie Nicole Petherbridge gave one of three student addresses and was also presented with the Principal's Award.
  • Justin Petrie was presented with the Teacher's Choice Award.
  • Ellen Aron gave one of three student addresses.
  • Outgoing Superintendent of Schools Dr. John O'Connor received an honorary TMHS diploma.
  • The TMHS Chorus presented a touching rendition of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" By U2
  • Among the speakers was Assistant Superintendent of Schools Brenda Theriault-Regan, who was Tewksbury High principal when the new high school opened in 2012.
