Obituary: Edward C. Picardi, 70

TEWKSBURY: Edward C. Picardi, age 70, a resident of Tewksbury for over 40 years, passed away at the Kindred Hospital in Peabody on Thursday, June 2, 2016. 

Born in Cambridge on June 1, 1946, he was the son of the late Carmine C. Picardi and the late Mary (Finn) Picardi. 

Ed was raised in Malden, attended Malden schools and graduated from Malden High School in 1965. Following high school, he attended Andover Institute, where he received certification as a computer specialist. 

In 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was awarded several decorations for his active duty service including the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for service while stationed in Korea, and the SPS M-14 Medal. 

Ed was employed as a computer specialist by the Internal Revenue Service and later by the Department of the Treasury until his retirement in 2009. 

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, the companionship of his dog “Nicky”, and vacationing at his cottage in Moultonborough, NH on Lake Winnipesaukee.

Ed is survived by two sons, Marc C. Picardi and his wife Alzira of Lowell, and Kevin C. Picardi of Malden; three grandchildren, Olivia and Sophia Picardi, and Joshua Yandle. 

At the request of the family, services will be private. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
