Ravioli needs a forever home. Can you help?
(Editor's note: This week, we are featuring a very special adoptable pet that was brought to our attention by the MSPCA in Methuen. His name is Ravioli and he is available for adoption through the MSPCA Cape Cod. Read his story and perhaps you can give him the forever home he needs.)
It is unfortunately all too common for a dog crossing the threshold at the MSPCA-Cape Cod in Centerville to arrive dirty and matted—but it is rare for that dog to be a highly desired purebred who likely commanded top dollar when purchased three years earlier.
Such is the case with “Ravioli,” a Welsh Terrier surrendered on June 7 by an owner who claimed to have no time to meet the dog’s basic needs.
“Ravioli’s fur was covered in ticks and feces and was one of the worst cases of matting we’ve ever seen,” said MSPCA-Cape Cod Director Mary Sarah Fairweather about the shy and wary canine whose pathetic appearance masked a very friendly (if cautious) personality. “He was so patient with us during multiple baths and tick treatments, as well as the rigorous combing and shaving necessary to remove his matted fur.”
Welsh Terriers are highly sought after dogs and are known to be friendly, spirited and highly intelligent. Now that Ravioli’s worst days are behind him, the adoption center team hopes a deserving adopter will provide him the loving home he deserves.
“We’re going to do all we can to ensure he is adopted into a home that places his safety and comfort above any other consideration,” said Fairweather. “It’s the least we can do for a dog who for too long has endured this kind of neglect.”
