(Saturday) morning at about 10:35 a.m., State Police from the Andover barracks responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash on Route 495 in Tewksbury which resulted in serious injuries.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Christopher LaVerde and Trooper Kyle Flanagan indicates that a 30-year-old Haverhill man was traveling on Route 495 northbound between exits 38 and 39 in a 2001 Chevrolet Impala when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to rollover and crash in the median. During the crash, the operator was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. He was subsequently flown by medical helicopter to Beth Israel Hospital for treatment. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section.

State Police were assisted on scene by Tewksbury Fire and EMS and Tewksbury Police.

The two left travel lanes on Route 495 northbound and southbound were closed for nearly two hours for investigation and cleanup.
