BILLERICA – Shawsheen Tech’s recent graduate Jackson Stone of Tewksbury was recently honored at the Massachusetts Association of Plumbing/Heating Cooling Contractors (MAPHCC) Conference and Trade Show in March.

The MAPHCC is the oldest trade association in the construction industry and represents the interests of Massachusetts' plumbing, heating and cooling contractors. The organization’s mission includes the education, training, promotion and advancement of the industry.

Stone was named top plumbing student at Shawsheen and received $500 worth of tools and a $500 check to be applied to any type of technical training.

The starting goalie for the Ram hockey team, Stone has been an honor roll student throughout his career at Shawsheen.

On the ice, Stone was also impressive. Last winter, he helped the hockey team reach the Div. 3 North semifinals, backstopping Shawsheen to an 11-8-4 regular-season records and postseason victories over Swampscott and Lowell Catholic before falling to Watertown in a shootout.

Stone finished with a 2.78 goals-against average between the pipes.

Stone also works through Shawsheen’s cooperative education program with SK Mechanical Inc. in Tewksbury.

“He’s a skilled mechanic with exceptional hands,” said Terry Doherty, one of Stone’s instructors at Shawsheen.
