Rams, Redmen Roundup: TMHS Girls Cross Country Claims Clipper Relays Title

The Tewksbury High girls cross country team picked right up where it left off -- as champions.
The Redmen A team of Rachel Sessa, Emily Sessa and Lauren Polimeno placed first overall at the Newburyport Clipper Relays over the weekend in a combined time of 35:52. Beverly placed second in 36:05.
Tewksbury's team of Lily Robinson, Devyn Veits and Abby Eskenas placed 11th overall in 39:11. The team of Shaylee Puleo, Karina Crowley and Sofia Calvo placed 22nd in a time of 40:31. And the team of Meghan Ostertag, McKenzie Clark and Sara Patriarca placed 30th in 41:25.
Methuen/Tewksbury 96, North Andover 84
The Red Rangers opened their season with a solid victory over North Andover. Kyra Donahue won the 200 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle for Methuen/Tewksbury. Steven Edgar won the 50 Freestyle and 100 backstroke.

Tewksbury 1, Bedford 0
The Tewksbury High boys soccer team picked up an early season non-league win, 1-0, over Bedford, on Saturday.
Ameen Kalkhoran scored the lone goal for Tewksbury, just 12 minutes into the game. Chris McCabe notched the assist. That goal proved to be enough, as a Redmen defense led by Connor Dane, Akash Ranjit, Jeff Carr and Eric Gallant provided keeper Rafael Perez (Two saves) with plenty of protection.Football
Shawsheen Tech 34, Blue Hills 6
Cody Sughrue completed 8-of-14 passes for 140 yards and four touchdowns to lead Shawsheen Tech to a season-opening romp over Blue Hills. Sean Hines caught two of the touchdown passes. Mark Companeschi and Dylan Pella had the others. Sam Baker tacked on a 12-yard TD run.
The Rams' defense was dominant and didn't lose their shutout until late in the fourth quarter.
