A handful of residents in an East Street neighborhood remain without power this morning after a car plowed into a utility pole around midnight.
According to a witness, who lives very close to where the accident took place, speed may have been a factor in the crash.
"I heard four loud bangs and a vehicle that sounded like it was going fast," said the resident. "Because the roads are wet you can hear the speed."
According to a post on the site Tewksbury Issues, the witness approached the vehicle, which had flipped onto its side.
"First words out of the drivers mouth was "I'm ok I'm ok.... don't tell the cops," said the witness, who said the man appeared to be intoxicated. "Then he preceds to try starting the truck (while it's on it's side) in an attempt to drive away."
Emergency crews responded to the scene.
