The elderly woman killed in a two-car crash in Tewksbury over the weekend has been identified.
88-year-old Claire Eldacher of Tewksbury died from injuries sustained when her sedan crashed, head-on, with an SUV on Clark Road, behind Stadium Plaza.
State Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident, which took place around 12:20 p.m. Saturday. Local emergency officials said an initial investigation indicated a silver sedan, driven by the deceased, crossed into the wrong lane and struck a red SUV head-on.
The man who was driving the SUV and his daughter, who was riding in the vehicle, were hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Eldacher had to be extracted from her vehicle using cutters and the Jaws of Life. She was treated by EMTs at the scene and then transported to LGH-Saints Campus, where she was revived and stabilized. From there, she was med-flighted to Brigham and Woman's Hospital in Boston, where she passed away.
